Getting started

What is free?

The Business Diagnostic is free for any business, of any size. It takes about ten minutes, scores your business across six steps and 23 areas, and gives you a summary to keep. No card and no trial clock.

Is there a free trial?

No — the diagnostic is the free part. Before you pay you can flip through a sample report and watch the VisionWeb walkthrough. Monthly plans have no minimum term, so you can subscribe for a month and cancel if it is not for you.

How do I start?

Create a free account and run the diagnostic. It shows where the business stands and what to fix first. When you want the dashboard, the six step tools and the guides, choose the plan for your headcount.

Plans and billing

How much does it cost?

One fee covers every tool and every user, set by how many people your business employs:

StaffMonthlyAnnually
1–9£349£3,490
10–49£549£5,490
50–99£749£7,490
100–249£1,095£10,950
250+Price on application

All prices exclude VAT. Paying annually gives you twelve months for the price of ten.

Do your prices include VAT?

No. All prices exclude VAT, which is added at the current rate.

Which plan is right for us?

The plan is set by your headcount: the people your business employs, including part-time staff and working directors. It is not set by how many people use the platform.

Do you charge per user?

No. Everyone in your business can have a login at no extra cost.

What happens if we grow into the next band?

You can carry on adding people — nothing is blocked. The platform counts the staff you record in its people tools, and when that passes your band we tell you and the account owner. Monthly plans move to the right band from the next monthly bill. Annual plans move straight away and pay the difference between the two bands for the whole months left in the year. If the count looks wrong, for example it includes leavers, tell us before the next bill.

What if the business gets smaller?

Tell us and we will move you down a band at your next renewal.

Can I cancel?

Yes. Monthly plans have no minimum term: cancel at any time and you keep full access until the end of the month you have paid for. We do not refund part months.

What if I pay annually?

You pay for twelve months in advance, at the price of ten. Once the year has started we do not give refunds or credit notes for the unused part, but you can cancel so that it does not renew.

How do I pay?

By card. Payments are taken securely by Stripe, so we never see or store your card details.

Do you have a referral scheme?

Yes. Recommend a business and, once it has subscribed and paid for its first full month, you get three months free. Your referral link is on your dashboard.

Films: the people tools

Six short walkthrough films: how the people tools fit together, then one for each tool.

Film 1 · Your people, from hiring to every week (1 min)
Film 2 · Getting started in People Management (1 min)

Narrated by Nigel Moore. Shown with an invented business, Pemberlow Coffee Roasters Ltd.

What is included

What does a plan include?

Every tool on the platform, for every step: the Financial Health Check, VisionWeb (your three-year plan), the Product & Service Review, the Relationship Value & Risk Review, the Process Audit and People Management. Also the valuation and retirement and exit planning tools, 15 psychometric assessments, Week by Week’s 52 training modules, the library of 100+ step-by-step guides, unlimited diagnostics, benchmarking against similar businesses, and a PDF of every report.

Are the Top Ten Tips guides included?

Yes — the full library comes with every paid plan, with no charge per guide. It is not part of a free account. Our Insights articles, drawn from the guides, are free for anyone to read.

Can my accountant or adviser see our plan?

If your accountant or adviser works with BBE as a partner, they can follow your plan, scores and actions through Adviser View. Talk to them, or to us, about setting it up.

Your data

Who owns the information we enter?

You do. The figures and answers you enter are stored against your company’s account and remain your property.

Is our data used for benchmarking?

Only in an anonymised and aggregated form: your company is never named, and figures are combined with other businesses’ before anyone sees them. This is how we can tell you whether a result is good for a business like yours. If you would rather be left out, tell us — your access is unaffected, but your results will show without comparison figures. See section 10 of our Terms of Use.

We added someone to People Management by mistake, or twice. How do we remove them?

Open the person, go to Settings and choose Remove this record at the bottom of their profile. If the same name appears twice, the team list and org chart also show a Remove the extra one? link. Only the Managing Director or HR can do this, and only for a record with nothing recorded on it yet; anyone with history (reviews, targets, a login and so on) is kept. A removed record can be restored from Removed records in the same place for 30 days. Someone who has left should be recorded as a leaver instead, so their history is kept.

Someone is leaving. What do we do in People Management?

Open their record and press Record that they are leaving on their Overview. Enter their last day, the reason and who picks up their work, then save.

A leaver checklist appears: accounts disabled, two-step sign-in and shared groups, shared passwords changed, bank access removed, equipment and keys returned, company information off their own devices, emails redirected, and a written reminder of their confidentiality duties. Tick each item, or mark it not needed, on or before their last day.

The Team Dashboard lists everyone leaving and how far their checklist has got, and you can send their exit survey from the same place. Only MD, HR and their manager can see or tick it.

Do you provide a staff handbook?

Yes. The Staff Handbook has 29 ready-written policies, checked against employment law in England, Wales and Scotland as at 14 October 2026: absence and sick pay, holidays, family leave, flexible working, equal opportunities, harassment, grievance, disciplinary, whistleblowing, data protection, information security, leaving and more.

It fills itself in from what BBE already holds: your company record, People Management and your Week by Week policies. MD or HR read it through, change anything that does not fit, and issue it. Staff read it online and confirm they have; for anyone without a login, print the sign-off sheet and record their signed copy. Each issued version is kept exactly as it was.

It is a template, not legal advice, so have anything unusual checked.

How do we have our data deleted?

Use our Data Erasure Request page. Our Privacy Policy explains what we hold and why. We are registered with the ICO.

For accountants and advisers

How does the partner arrangement work?

Partners earn 30% of the licence fee paid by each client business they bring to BBE, paid quarterly in arrears. Partners sign a three-year partner agreement; their clients pay the normal plan price, monthly with no minimum term. White label is available to partners with five or more active clients, for a set-up fee and a monthly fee (ask for the partner prospectus). Network terms are agreed case by case. See the partner page and film.
